How we test free tiers
Every tool we cover is put through the same hands-on process before it earns a score out of 5. We don't rank from marketing pages — we sign up and build.
- Create a real free account. We register on each vendor's free plan (no paid trials, no credit card) and build a working form from scratch, then a second from a template.
- Pricing-page and fine-print audit. We read the official free-tier documentation line by line — response caps, form limits, seat limits, and which features are gated — and cross-check every number against our canonical facts before publishing.
- Hands-on feature testing. We test conditional logic, embeds, email notifications, payment fields where offered, file uploads, and mobile responsiveness on a live phone, not just an emulator.
